Connect Zoom to Status Notifier

Status Notifier for Zoom — Setup & Removal Guide

Status Notifier turns a USB desk light red while you're in a Zoom meeting and green when you're free. It reads only your Zoom presence status — never your meetings, recordings or chats.

Zoom sync is free. The free Status Notifier app syncs one platform — Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Slack — checking about every 30 seconds. Free and paid Zoom accounts both work. Paid plans add Discord, faster updates and more; several platforms on one account start at $9.99/month.

Add the app

Option 1 — from the Zoom App Marketplace

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace in your web browser.
  2. On the Status Notifier page, click Add.
  3. Review the requested permission (your presence status) and click Allow.
  4. Install the desktop app (below) and sign in with the same Zoom account.

Option 2 — from the desktop app

Install the app first, then connect Zoom from inside it — you'll be asked to approve the same permission.

If your company's Zoom admin restricts Marketplace apps, they may need to approve Status Notifier first.

Use the app

  1. Connect the light: plug the controller's built-in lead into the light bar, and the supplied cable from the controller into a USB-A port on your computer.
  2. Open Status Notifier and confirm it shows the light as connected.
  3. Go to Dashboard → Status Source, choose Zoom, and sign in with your Zoom account.
  4. Join a Zoom meeting — the light turns red. Leave it, and it returns to green. Click Refresh for an instant update.

Colors: green = Available, red = In a meeting, Presenting, On a call, Do Not Disturb or Out of office, amber = Away, gray = Offline. You can change any color in LED Settings. Full setup details are in the setup manual.

Remove the app

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace and open Manage → Added Apps.
  2. Find Status Notifier and click Remove. This immediately stops Status Notifier from reading your Zoom status.
  3. To also delete the stored Zoom connection, open the desktop app and go to Account → Linked Platforms → Unlink next to Zoom — or Delete Account to delete your whole account and its data. You can also email info@ghtechland.com and we'll delete it for you.
  4. Optional: uninstall the desktop app (Windows: Settings → Apps; Mac: drag it from Applications to the Trash).

Troubleshooting

  • Authorization fails: remove the app in Zoom (above), then add it again and approve the permission.
  • Status doesn't change: check you're signed in to the same Zoom account in Zoom and in Status Notifier, and that Zoom is selected under Dashboard → Status Source.
  • Light doesn't respond: see Support for connection fixes.
