The Busy Light for Discord

A USB desk light that shows your Discord status the moment it changes. Jump into a voice channel or set yourself to Do Not Disturb, and the light on your desk turns red — so family, roommates, and housemates know you're in a call before they walk in.

Watch the light follow your Discord status

▶ Hop into a Discord voice channel and watch the light switch from green to red — automatically.

How the automatic sync works

A lightweight app runs quietly in your system tray and watches your Discord presence — Online, Idle, Do Not Disturb — and whether you're active in a voice channel. The moment your status changes or you join a call, the app sends the matching color to the light over USB, in real time. No buttons, nothing to remember to open.

You sign in once with your Discord account through Discord's official, secure login — Status Notifier only reads the presence signal it needs to pick a color. It never reads your messages or listens to your voice chats.

What each Discord status looks like

Online — GreenYou're around and free to talk.
In a voice call — RedYou're in a Discord voice channel — do not disturb.
Do Not Disturb — RedFocused. Notifications muted.
Idle — AmberAway from the keyboard.

Prefer your own palette? Every color is customizable in the app's LED settings.

Works on Windows and Mac

Status Notifier works with Discord on both Windows 10/11 and macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later, including Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Get the app from the Microsoft Store or the Mac App Store — it connects to the light over a single USB cable, with no hub, batteries, or Wi-Fi setup.

Set it up in three steps

  1. Plug the light into USB. Connect the light bar to any USB port on your Windows PC or Mac — it powers on instantly.
  2. Install the app and sign in to Discord. Download the app, then sign in with your Discord account so it can read your presence and voice activity.
  3. You're done. Your light now follows your Discord status automatically. Set it and forget it.
Free to start. The app is free to download and lets you set colors manually. Automatic Discord syncing runs on a subscription you can start right inside the app.
