Team plans aren't sold through the Mac App Store. Mac App Store users buy them in our Team portal. In the Windows app and the direct-download Mac app, you can also buy them in the app with PayPal.

Yes, on Professional and Team plans: connect Teams, Zoom, Slack and Discord to one account and switch which one the light follows in a single click. The free app and the Starter plan sync one platform. You never have to use all four — sign in only to the ones you want.

Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Slack and Discord. Status Notifier is the only commercial busy light that also tracks Discord; Discord sync is part of the paid plans.

No. Free Zoom, Slack and Discord accounts work. Microsoft Teams status needs a work or school Microsoft 365 account — Microsoft doesn't provide presence for personal accounts such as Outlook.com or Hotmail.

Some companies require an IT admin to approve any new app before its first use. If yours does, the app shows a one-click approval link you can send to your admin. It's a one-time step for your whole organization.

Yes. There are native apps for Windows 10/11 and for macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Get them from the Microsoft Store, the Mac App Store, or as a direct download.

On the free plan the app checks your status about every 30 seconds; paid plans check as often as every five seconds, with longer intervals when your status is steady or you're idle. Click Refresh in the app for an instant update.

The supplied cable plugs into a USB-A port on your computer and the USB-C port on the controller. If your computer only has USB-C ports, use a USB-C to USB-A adapter (not included).

No batteries and no Wi-Fi — it's powered over USB. The hwB model can also connect over Bluetooth while still powered by USB; the hwA model is USB-only. Your model is printed on the box label.

Yes. You can pick your own color for each status, or set any color manually. Animated effects such as pulse, breathe and rainbow come with the paid plans.

Most people are done in about two minutes: connect the light, install the app, sign in to your platform and choose it under Dashboard → Status Source. The setup manual walks through every step.

No. It reads only your availability status (available, busy, in a meeting) through each platform's official secure sign-in. It never accesses message content, audio or video, and it doesn't sell your data. You can disconnect any platform at any time.
