Mac App Store
One universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. Updates arrive through the App Store.
Microsoft Store
For Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). Installs and updates through the Microsoft Store.
Direct download
Signed installers from our official GitHub releases, for anyone who can't use an app store. The Mac download comes in two builds — choose arm64 for Apple Silicon or x64 for Intel. Updates install automatically.

Which version to choose
Status sync, platforms and plan features are identical in every version. These are the differences:

Paid plans are tied to your Status Notifier account, so sign in with the same account on each computer. To cancel, use your Apple Account subscription settings for Mac App Store purchases, or Account in the app for PayPal purchases.
How often the light updates
The app checks your status on a schedule. Click Refresh in the app any time for an instant update.

Firmware updates
Your light occasionally gets a firmware update. The Windows app and the direct-download Mac app install it for you from inside the app. Apple doesn't allow Mac App Store apps to update USB devices, so if you use the Mac App Store version, use this free tool instead.

What Status Notifier does
Status Notifier reads your availability from the app you work in — Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Slack or Discord — and shows it on your USB desk light: red when you're busy or in a meeting, green when you're free. It runs quietly in the background, so the people around you know you're on a call before they interrupt.
System requirements
- Windows: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).
- Mac: macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. The Mac App Store version is one universal app; the direct download has separate Apple Silicon (arm64) and Intel (x64) builds.
- The light: a Status Notifier light and a free USB-A port (or a USB-C port with an adapter).
- An account to follow: Microsoft Teams (work or school account), Zoom, Slack, or Discord (paid plans; one-time join of our Presence Notifier community server).
- An internet connection.
How to get started
- Connect the light: the controller's built-in lead into the light bar, and the supplied cable from the controller to your computer.
- Install the app from one of the options above.
- Open Status Notifier, choose your platform under Dashboard → Status Source, and sign in.
- That's it — your light now follows your status. The setup manual has every step in detail.

App store or direct download — which should I pick?
All versions sync your status the same way and offer the same plans. Store versions update through their store; the direct download updates itself. On a Mac, the direct download can also update your light's firmware — the Mac App Store version uses the separate Firmware Tool. Paid plans bought in the Mac App Store are billed by Apple; in the Microsoft Store and direct-download apps they're billed by GH TechLand through PayPal.
Do I need to keep the app open?
It runs quietly in the background, so you can leave it running and forget about it.
Is my data private?
