Status Notifier is a desktop application provided by GH TechLand (“we”, “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect personal information when you use Status Notifier.
Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to provide the app’s functionality, including:
- Account information
- Email address and display name (if available) used to create and manage your account.
- Subscription tier/status (e.g., Free/Starter/Professional) and subscription identifiers (such as a PayPal subscription ID if you purchase a subscription).
Linked platform information
When you connect third-party services (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, Discord), we store:
Which services are linked and basic provider identifiers (such as provider user ID and provider email, where available).
Authentication tokens needed to keep the connection working (access/refresh tokens and expiry). These are stored in our database and/or the secure credential storage on your device. Example: Discord uses OAuth and requests “identify” and “email”.
App features and settings (optional)
If you use these features, we may store:
Automation rules and preferences (if you create them).
Status history and export settings (if enabled in your plan).
LED/hardware configuration settings (brightness, effects, device settings).
How we use information
We use information to:
Authenticate you and connect your selected platforms.
Retrieve and show presence/status information and apply your selected color/effect actions.
Manage subscriptions and entitlements (Free vs Paid features).
Provide optional features like automation rules and history export (depending on plan).
Where we store information
Primary storage: We store limited account/linkage/subscription data in an Azure SQL Database (e.g., user record, linked providers, subscription tier/status).
Secure local storage: Some secrets (such as OAuth state and certain app secrets) may be stored using secure OS credential storage (via keychain/credential vault).
Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
With the platforms you choose to connect (to authenticate and retrieve the data needed for Status Notifier to work).
With infrastructure/service providers (e.g., cloud hosting/database providers) to operate the service.
With payment processors (PayPal) if you choose to subscribe. Subscription details are used to activate your plan and may be stored as identifiers in our database.
Retention and deletion
Unlinking: When you disconnect/unlink a provider, we remove the linked-provider record and any connection metadata that is no longer needed.
Subscriptions: We retain subscription tier/status and subscription identifiers while your account is active (and as needed for billing/accounting compliance).
History/automations: If enabled, we retain automation rules and history data while your account is active or until you delete them (subject to plan limits).
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
