What a Discord busy light does

Busy lights aren't new. They read your status from one enterprise stack and glow red when you're on a call.

It reads your presence from Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Slack and Discord at the same time, then shows one color anyone walking past can read: red when you're unavailable, green when you're free.

How it works

A small desktop app sits in your system tray and watches the availability you already set in the apps you already use. When your status changes — you switch to Do Not Disturb, you join a meeting, you mark yourself busy — the app sends a color to the light over USB in real time.

There's no hub, no Wi-Fi provisioning, no pairing and nothing to charge. If you connect several platforms at once, the light shows busy whenever any one of them does, so a Teams standup and a Discord call are treated exactly the same.

Windows and Mac

Native apps for Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 11 or later, including both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The Windows app is distributed through the Microsoft Store and the Mac app through the Mac App Store, so updates arrive automatically. Status Notifier is also listed on the Zoom Marketplace.

Your privacy

The app reads one thing: whether you're available or unavailable. That's the only signal it needs to pick a color. It does not read your messages, record audio or video, or sell your data. Sign-in uses each platform's own official login, and you can disconnect any platform at any time.
